A Month in the Tropics: Chapter 1: Players Intro
From SSDC, Inc.
Players Info:
Once they accept to enter the competition they will be transported to a facility, along with all their gear and briefed more fully.
The Competition will take place on a Tropical Island. Each team will have a base of operations. Each base will have several targets, 1: Power Station (where the base camp gets it’s power and systems/weapons can be recharged), 2: Food Station (where the team can synthesize anything they want to eat, = eating well), 3:Shelter/bunker (where the team can rest, plan, be protected from the elements, etc...), 4: Holding cell for captives (if there are any).
Each team will be given an item for which they are to keep safe, while trying to get a hold of the other teams (basically a football sized jeweled egg). Each team member will be given a secret Piece of information (they can do what they want with the info) the teams are to try to get as much of the secret info as they can.
“Points are gained for”
1: keeping your teams item safe and in your teams possession, double if intact;
2: for each other teams item you acquire, double if intact;
3: for each peace of information gleaned from other teams,
4: for each facility station of opponents destroyed;
5: for each facility station of your teams kept intact;
6: for each opponent taken from play, triple if a prisoner “alive.”(regardless of condition);
7: for a time variable if completed. if no clear victory in a Month, then the winner will be based on who has the most points. (Or “if Forfeit!” then All is lost / forfeit. A team can contact control, but ONLY if they want to forfeit! At which point they will suffer the appropriate shame, lost of prestige, ect...)
A Month in the Tropics: Chapter 3: Map
Risk of Death Release Forms must be signed.
“Note:”
No one has access to maps of the island! This will mean that it will be an even and unknown equal playing field to begin with.
Notes:
The party is to do everything in their power, with the equipment they bring with them to obtain all the objectives or as many as they can in a month (or three months).
Notice:
No one will be allowed to leave the islands “area” until the competition is complete or the time has elapsed, otherwise they are considered to forfeit, this does not apply to the immediate shoreline.
| BM Note: It is not known who the other teams are, so that there is no ways to determine how best to prepare to fight who they will be facing. There is however prep time at an Omni Adaptec facility before the competition. This is so the team can check all their gear and sign all the forms. (And so the corp can see if they will try anything.) If your group is creative and decide to try to fine out who they may be facing or get other information, let them try (its all part of the test).
If they search the facility physically they wont fine the teams, as they are being held in other facilities, nearby and no one is aloud to ‘leave’ the facility, of course the players have to fine this out first. If they manage to get into a secure computer system, they could find files on the other teams and the island (L16 difficulty in a variety of computer skills, computer operation and date manage because speed is of the essence, bypass and/or defeat, trace-if they manage to detect another team in the system and are curious. etc...). If they go another rout and try to “Over Hear” info, or even Bribe the right person(s), this is more easy as Omni Adaptec has made it a point to have the “right” people on duty who would give in to such things in varying degrees depending on who they approach. BMs discretion. ‘’‘There is also a chance that if they play around at the facility they may see a Mutzachan hanging about... This would be from one of the other teams, who has used Electron Flow EC after his team hacked into the systems, and is checking on the other teams to make sure it is not false intelligence. There is a chance they might recognize her, TK -40 because in her team she has not been in the spotlight often and takes a kind-of backseat to all activities... ie. tech support. Either way she does not hang around long and it is a one time chance. If approached because they mistake her as a corp employee, she will give false info while testing gently what they might know. (See if they have there peace of secret info yet! Etc..)|} A Month in the Tropics: Chapter 2: The Threats [edit] The Island ? “”I got no map, imagine a large island with a mountain range that trails off in three distinct directions, which blocks “Easy” access to the three “more” level areas. The tall mountains are as treacherous as can be without being snow capped. Deciduously, there is everything you would expect to find on a tropical island, in an oxygen environment. Animal wise, there is not any real dangers besides the Teams.
[edit] The Base“”Simply, there are four identical looking buildings in a cluster. They are all very plane, one story, one entrance, three windows with shutters only. One is for Power, upon entering there is a generator, of sorts, fenced in, in the center of the room, it can not be moved without a vehicle”?”. Another is a mess haul, there are two four man tables with chairs in the center, and a small tower in one corner that holds four food synthesizers linked together, and a cabinet that hold nutrition pack refills. Another is a shelter with bunk beds that fold out from the walls, wool blankets. The last has two fenced holding cells, each more then likely capable of holding a team each, no comforts; of course if the other team is ALL Pythons then together they could hold one team of eight of that size.
