Another Day at Camp

Introduction

The players have been standing around SSDC corporate headquarters pulling boring routine guard duty for the last few months when they are called in by their boss, an Orion Rogue by the name of Regend O’Connel. His office is plush and full of assorted furniture from around the universe, including a desk made from one of the great trees of Cashoulis and a fold out bar with a very complete and expensive set of drinks.

Regend himself is 30 years old, with long flowing raven black hair and jade green eyes. His youthful clean shave face has a constant smile of joy and contentment and he is quite jovial as he greets the players as they come into his office. Anyone who blows him off by not shaking his hand is likely to receive a black mark out of spite, they don’t have to smile but they need to be courteous. He offers everyone a drink and a chair in front of his deep red colored desk, the chairs are expensive looking, sturdy and apholstered with soft blue fur from a creature the players aren't familiar with, as he pours himself a glass of a clear amber colored drink(It's Utaban Scotch for those wanting to know).

Once he sits back down he pulls a thick folder from the center drawer and opens it, laying several sheets out in front of him and leaving a rather impressive stack inside it. He quickly scans each sheet before settling on the fourth one. Here he looks at the (Party Leader) and begins talking. (The folders have a full personality profile of everyone, Regend knows the people serving under him and will make comments about their abilities)"Tell me what you would sacrifice to make this mission a success?” After the player answers he sets down the paper and quickly stacks the other sheets, putting the leader's on the bottom.

He continues looking at the folders and making his comments, he'll be friendly to orions and humans, cordial to phentari, and treating eridani with well disguised sarcasm and disgust. He doesn't condone brute strength considering stealth and quiet espionage over blatant destruction, but if it gets the mission done, and limits possible exposure(i.e. destroying video cameras) then its fine.

Finally to the group he says, “First before I can brief you fully you are all going to our training camp on Evance. It is to make sure you are still up to par on your espionage training before we send you out on this mission. You’re lucky, not many of our teams are sent to a refresher before being sent on some dangerous assignment and most of our newbies teams don’t ever come back. Evance is nothing special except that there are several feudal lords fighting each other for resources, they shouldn’t pose a problem, they haven’t before, and our base is fairly large. The training will last for four weeks, so until you get back enjoy the fresh air climate of the low tech world and don’t let too many of the bugs bite you, they leave awful marks.”

Here the players can ask questions but he won’t reveal too much more of the mission and the training is straight forward. Anyone who constantly asks questions at this point deserves a black mark or two. Regend knows about the tour but doesn't feel it is worth mentioning unless he is asked directly, he doesn't know of any rebel presence on the planet but he will comment that it's possible they have supporters there, again he feels it isn't worth mentioning.

The base commander is well recognized and famous, about as well known as Tanya Frost, and is known for his spit and polish methods and his generous rewards. The characters should feel privliged and worried about being under the auspices of this man, the rewards can be great but so can the black marks(double any black marks incurred while at the training camp and the rewards are detailed later)

Award additional XP for good roleplaying

Later that night the groups main espionage agent(or mazian) is out in the halls he is confronted by a lone man in a business suit. The character has never seen him before but he has the look of a major suit, sleazy and corrupt, a typical orion rogue suit. He has all of the right passes if asked and displays the the company logo on his shirt proudly.

“[Character Name], right. I would love some information about the base commander on Evance. I have had various reports that…attack his reputation and I want proof one way or the other. I want you to leave anything, incriminating or otherwise, in a dumpster marked with a pentagram instead of a star. Of course there will be something in it for you, a little extra bonus to tide you over, but if you're caught we don’t know each other.”

If asked the little something is a bonus of 20,000 cr

He doesn't give a name and will simply say he is Mr. Smith if asked. A sighting check at -30 will spot the name on his badge and it matches, and if they do a further security check it will clear on the computers unless they manage to pull a level 20 in which they find out it is a fake.

BM's note: He works for the rebels and they're trying to put some bad publicity on the character's company and specifically the Brigadier General Alfred Harris, by showing bad behavior one of their top base commnaders.

If the characters kill the suit, all involved are detained for a week and they aren't going to be able to aprticipate in the Commander's Trophy challenge and lose the potential reward. The suit is in truth a rebel but there is no way for the company or the characters to know this at this time.
