THE CUSTOMIZED GAME

Now that you have played a few Basic Battlelords Games and familiarized yourself with the cards, you are ready for the real action. The full flavor, strategy and outright fun of The Battlelords Card Game is apparent only after customization. Many of the Basic Game’s rules are changed in the customized game. Of course, in the customized game, the customized rules govern.

Affiliation

You must choose whether your mercenary corps is on the right side or the wrong side of Alliance Galactic Law. Mercenary corps on the right side of the law are called Legit Mercenary Companies. The others are called Criminal Mercenary Companies.

Card Limits

No particular Battlelord, Operation, Matrix or Hotspot may appear more than once in your Command Display. No one card may appear more than three times in a customized deck.

Objective

The objective of The Battlelords Card Game is to secure the biggest and baddest reputation for your mercenary company. This is done by accumulating a certain number of Reputation Points. Generally, each Mission card completed is worth ten Reputation Points. Each Fame Point held is worth one Reputation Point.

A short game has 35 Reputation Points as a victory condition. A medium length game plays to 45 Reputation Points. A long game sets 60 Reputation Points as the objective. Of course, these numbers are only suggestions. Longer or shorter games may be played by setting the victory conditions at any desired level. Just make sure everyone agrees to the Reputation Point number needed to win before play begins.

The winner is the Commander with the most Reputation Points over the amount needed to win at the end of the Victory Phase. Even though no one has sufficient Reputation Points to win, a Commander may be declared a loser. Any Commander who has no active Hotspot, and no Fame Points at the end of the Hotspot Phase is deemed unworthy and ceases playing.

Getting Started

Each Commander starts with ten Fame Points. Separate your cards into the Fame deck and Fortune deck. Shuffle each deck and you are good to go. Lock-n-Load! In the first Turn, skip all but the Draw, Hotspot and Discard Phases. If you do not draw a Hotspot on the first Turn, discard and redraw the whole hand until you draw at least one Hotspot.
