Battlelords Tournament Rules v1.0 (9/1/1995)

Objective

At least forty-five (45) Reputation Points are needed to win a Battlelords tournament round. At least twenty-five (25) of these Reputation Points must be earned through completed Mission Cards. The remainder may be gained from Fame Points.

Format

Two to four Commanders play in each round of the tournament. The first Commander to win two games in that round advances to the next round.

Deck Requirements

Each Commander must have fully customized Legit or Criminal decks. Each Commander must have at least 30 Fame cards and at least 30 Fortune cards in their decks. The total cost in Credits of all the cards in a Commander's Fortune deck must be 200 or less.

Reserves

Each Commander may keep (10) cards in the Reserves. These cards may be inserted into that Commander's playing decks during the short pause between games in a round. The Reserves may be altered in between rounds of a tournament.

Card Limits

No more than one of each of the following cards may be included in your decks:

Bar Room Brawl Jaquassarrious (Battlelord Killer)
False Lead Jaquassarrious (Hotspot Destroyer)
HUD-A Scan Unit Maelstrom General
(Any) Incursion

Plasmoid Devourer

(Any) Invasion

Suicide Bomb

No card is banned in tournament play.

Buying Fame Cards

During the Draw Phase, any Commander may purchase up to three (3) extra Fame Cards over his or her normal maximum hand allowance. The first extra Fame Card costs one (1) Fame Point. The second costs three (3) Fame Points. The last costs five (5) Fame Points.

Reshuffling

Whenever you have insufficient cards in your draw pile, draw those that remain, shuffle your discard pile, start a new discard pile, and draw to your maximum hand allowance. Whenever a card allows you to search through, or turn over any card from, any draw pile, the whole deck must be shuffled after the card effects take place. For example, after you draw the three PUDs granted by the New Recruits Wild Event card, you must shuffle the whole Fortune deck (draw and discard pile), and form a new draw pile. This applies to Field Promotion, New Recruits, Mayday, and Madd Mike's brochure. This rule does not apply to HUD-A Scan Unit, or Mind Probe Station.

Timing of Advantages

Battlelords and Operation advantages are effective immediately after you state they are being used. The timing of advantages is not the same as the timing of Wild Event cards. Wild Event cards played at the same time take effect in reverse order.

Defaults

Unless contradicted by the rules listed here, all rules of the customized Battlelords game are in effect in a tournament.
