Caught Between an Eridani and a Hard Place: Chapter 4: The Sound and the Fury

As the characters and crew go about the task of trying to get the ship fully operational again, strange things start to happen. First one, then another of the characters will be distracted from his or her task by a burst of confused noise, vaguely reminiscent of static on a radio. Nobody else will appear to notice this noise at the time. This will happen to each of the characters at some point. The Battlemaster is encouraged to roll a bunch of dice, then pass each character a note secretly as the asteroid attempts to make contact with them. The dice serve no purpose, but will make the characters really nervous!

Approximately an hour later, things get more serious. Wherever they are, one at a time, crew members' faces suddenly go blank, and they stop whatever they're doing. Affected individuals head for the engine room, where they attempt to destroy as much of the machinery as possible. If interfered with, they attack viciously, fighting like wild animals until the obstruction is removed, at which time they resume their single-minded quest to destroy the engines.

All of this occurs gradually, over a period of about 2 hours. The characters affected, in order from first to last, will be: Urga, Brick, Cully, Lukaz, Sterren Pax, and Captain Heinriksson. It's suggested that you play this up for maximum effect. Cully could be grimly helping our heroes look for the cause of the strange happenings. All of a sudden, in the middle of a sentence, his face goes blank...you get the idea.
