FAQ: Weapons
From SSDC, Inc.
Do lower level neuro cannons work through armor?
Only the neuro cannon I-III have armor effects listed.
A: Add the armor threshold as a bonus to the character’s SMR.
If a Disrupter or a Disintegrator does excess damage to armor, thus destroying it, is that armor passed on to the occupant?
If so, is the damage doubled?
A: The damage from that shot only is first applied to the absorption then to the occupant.
For that shot only, the damage is not doubled.
Do pulse cannons really ignore all cover?
A: No. They ignore all Concealment. There is a difference.
We had a Cizerack who was strong enough to mount a PCS while wearing mechanized heavy armor. Is this plausible?
It says these weapons may only be used by vehicles and HD’s. Would recoil be a problem?
A: These weapons were designed for vehicle use, a Cizerack could not mount one. Even if it could be carried the recoil generated by firing would be fatal to the cat.
Do omegaton grenades affect flux shields?
A: Yes. Full damage. Check out the page 144 - 145 of Lock-N-Load: Weapons & Tactics for more information.
Do neurocannons pass through flux shields and/or armor?
A: They don’t pass through flux shields, they do pass through armor.
Use either the listed armor effects or add one point to target SMR per point of threshold, in addition to any mind shield bonuses.
If an Omega weapon does no integrity damage, how can you knock down buildings with them?
A: If the building is all metal, you probably can’t.
But treat building integrity as taking damage from any attack form which does damage to absorption, or to integrity.
IE A disintegrator that does 4-24 to metal targets does 4-24 building integrity, ignoring THR.
An omega weapon which does 8-80 concussion inflicts 8-80 building integrity, ignoring THR.
A bullet which does 3-12 has building THR subtracted, then does the remaining damage to building integrity.
In Galactic Underground 2 you said that any weapon that contains 25 or fewer shots uses a clip.
Does this hold true for Pulse, Omega, and Disintegrator weapons, or does the rule in Battlelords still hold true?
A: No. This is no longer accurate, and has been removed from the current version of GU2. Any pulse omega or disintegrator weapon which uses a clip will specifically mention it in its description.
Otherwise it uses a backpack.
Furthermore, some lasers are backpack weapons, the weapon description is always correct.
For a complete list of weapon powersources see Lock-N-Load: Reloaded.
Can parry with a light sword? If so, what is it’s parry number?
A: Yes, it is the same as a long sword.
How does an omega weapon do damage?
Does a fast moving flux shield hit the target or is it the air displaced by a fast moving flux shield that hits the target?
A: A fast moving flux shield which hits the target is a good equivalent.
Is an omega weapon an area affect weapon. How big is the force shield?
A: No, the size of the force field is dependent on the particular weapon, but generally it is 6in. to 1ft. in diameter.
Does a light sword affect heavy armor, it’s plasma isn’t it?
A: Yes.
If you add an omega weapon that’s hard wired to the brain for initiative bonuses to a humpty, do their initiative bonuses combine? (Mind web + hard wired omega cannon).
A: No, you get which ever is higher.
Can we have stats for slingshots. Yes we have someone who wants to play a Fott.
A: Coming soon to a net FAQ near you.
Are machine gun lasers impact weapons?
If not, why the hell am I going to pay 2.5 million credits and up for a gun that isn’t effective against heavy armor!!!
A: Because you can slag a lot of lesser opponents really fast.
If it doesn’t say impact in the description then it isn’t.
But they still do 1/2 vs heavy; however you don’t use them vs MBA.
Besides they are intended as battlefield weapons which can cut down Scavernauk Juggernauts, Demonant, etc. in large numbers.
If a frost gun makes it through a targets armor, do the remaining points do triple damage to body points?
A: Not on the first shot which finishes off the absorption.
After that the direct exposure does do x3 damage.
How exactly do Hand-to-Hand weapons affect heavy armor?
Lock-N-Load and the rule book have different descriptions of this.
LNL saying that all Archaic attacks are nullified, and the Rule book saying that only personal Archaic powder weapons are.
A: Only Light sword, E-Mace, Plasma whip, Plasma Jet are capable of affecting heavy armor normally.
(Ok the whip does less than 7 pts normally but in theory, with high enough skill and STR...)
Do Plasma swords or Energy maces receive strength bonuses to their damage? If so, why?
A: They do, because a stronger or more skilled wielder is capable of bringing the weapon into the target faster.
In the e-mace case this simply causes more transitional damage.
As for the light sword, the plasma field is imbedded deeper into the target thus causing more damage.
Even though it generally penetrates most matter easily, the light sword still feels some resistance.
Therefore more force = deeper cut.
How much damage do normal, low-tech arrows do?
How much damage do hunting-tip low-tech arrows do?
Normal hi-tech arrows (higher quality metal, finer shape and point).
Hunting hi-tech arrows (have wider shape, high quality carbide or metal)?
Hmm, the standard ‘arrow’ is considered to be a Hunting type I’d imagine.
Take a couple points off for lower-tech.
I don’t have the rules with me, as somebody borrowed my BLs book and is still reading it.
Anyhow, I think arrows could do between 1-4 and 2-12 depending on the style and force of delivery.
A: Here’s what I would suggest:
Normal, low-tech arrow - simple sharpened wooden tip: 1d3
Normal, low-tech arrow - with simple metal tip: 1d4
Normal, low-tech arrow - wellmade metal hunting tip: 1d6
Normal, hi-tech arrow - with standard practice tip: 1d4
Normal, hi-tech arrow - with standard hunting tip: 1d6
Normal, hi-tech arrow - with higrade hunting tip: 1d8
This would be the best the arrows alone would do.
Special hi-grade bows would boost the damage higher.
Why are their no new weapons for the K-sats?
With the large numbers of new weapons available which would be well suited for K-sats we thought we’d see some stats.
Are there any rules for placing new weapon systems in K-sats?
A: This is due to the Balshrom Corp. monopoly on K-sats and the pending court case.
There is a restraining order at the moment.
Do weapons which incorporate A-grav systems protect the user from hits by Gravitational Sheers?
A: The weapon is protected, but not the player.
What happens when a web generator hits someone wearing a flux shield?
A: It goops off harmlessly.
In LNL (2nd Edition) it states in the chart that the Widowmaker Omega weapon has a ROF (in seconds) of 1.
However in the weapon description it states that this weapon has a recycle rate of 2 per second.
Which is the correct rate of fire?
A: The correct ROF is 1.
Does normal weapon damage have any effect on hard point structures, and if so, how in game terms?
Does hard point weapons damage ignore normal damage structures?
A: HP = 100 BPs. It is heavy points not hard point.
They are completely interchangeable and if you do 120BP to an object with 1HP, it is destroyed.
If 1HP hits an object with 300BP, it has lost 1/3 of its integrity.
In short, they are only a change in terminology, damage is still damage.
Does it mention in any of the books that most grenades have 3 second fuses.
How do we deal with this in combat, since 3 seconds is an eternity of time in which to escape death!
(ie. displacement device). By the time the grenades gets there and explodes i'm probably dead!
A: Battlelords grenades have adjustable timers from 1 sec to 60 sec.. a dial is used for quick setting.
Characters would normally set them at 1, it takes 1 second (S) to reset the time.
It is best to set them before combat if you want them to be longer.
Is it possible to fire proton beams in atmosphere?
A: No.
How is damage done by nuclear effect weapons?
A: The correct procedure is as follows:
If hitting armor section: apply 10-40 against integrity. Ignore threshold.
If integrity is destroyed, apply remaining damage to polymers and then to body without multiplying or anything else.
However if integrity is destroyed then the armor in that section is GONE and all future hits are as for unarmored (see below):
Unarmored, or wearing street clothes armor: apply 20-80 points of damage.
Flux shielded: apply 10-40 points to the flux shield.
Leftover damage is applied as appropriate.
Monsters, unarmored: Apply 20-80 minus threshold.
For other disintegrators use the lower rating instead of 10-40 and the higher rating for 20-80.
Disruptors work the same as disintegrators.
Which Omega weapons use body mount harnesses?
I’m assuming the two pistol models do not use harnesses. What about snub-nosed, and hip fired versions?
A: Neither snub-nosed nor hip versions require body mount harnesses.
The Quad Pulse and the Balshrom Vice have horrendous encumbrance values.
Are these errors, or are these two weapons vehicle mounted?
A: These are correct.
If gravitational effect weapons are indeed weapons, how do they do damage?
I am unable to find rules for falling (or more accurately being dropped), or for being accelerated into objects like walls!!!
Will these rules be applicable for armored opponents?
A: Falling damage is up to the battle master; a good rule of thumb is 1-6 points per 3m fallen above the first 2m, divided among 3 sections. This assumes a hard surface.
Terminal damage for an unarmored human would be about 15-90; for an armored human about 50-300 or higher (even in MBA there should be a significant chance of death if you fall a kilometer).
Is it possible to rig a weapon to self-destruct? Can the amount of damage done by the exploding weapon be chosen?
For example, choosing from the weapon malfunction charts in the back of the BL book.
A: Yes, certain weapons can be set to overload.
The damage from such an overload is 4 times the normal damage output of the weapon.
The Battle Master must use some discretion.
Are ceramic/polymer weapons (certain omega weapons) immune to the affects of A/R beams and metal guns?
A: Yes.
The Coilizer Gauss gun has a ROF of 4, thus making it an automatic weapon. Yet, Gauss guns MUST BE AIMED! Obviously you can’t aim a weapon on full auto!
A: You can fire a four-round burst then you have to re-aim.
The weapon is set up to fire the 4 shots before the recoil can throw off the aim.
In addition, there is no recoil ‘kick’ like a archaic powder weapon, just a smooth back force.
Apply the burst fire penalty if more than one slug is fired (i.e. -20)
In the BL book it states penalties for automatic fire for Omega, Pulse, lasers, and APW’s.
Are we to assume that ALL of the other full auto weapons in LNL fall under that “Other heavy weapons category”?
Can we have some new modifiers for the new weapons?
A: Pulse Automatic Weapons: no penalty
BC-Winterdom: -40
Skeet-1 Parasite: Burst mode incurs no penalty
Meson Cannons: -60
Coilizer : -20 for burst mode
Meteor Carousel: No penalty on burst
Turbo plus Grenade Launcher: -60
What is the cost to reload energy weapons?
A: The Battlelords main rule book (final edition) under the section title Beam Weapons states that recharges are 5CR/SHOT.
Laser pistol clips are 50cr and laser rifle clips are 300cr each.
Other ammunition costs may be found in the initial description (bottom of paragraph in bold) of each weapon type in the Battlelords main rule book.
Can a light sword be used in conjunction with a FIST system?
Will the fist system add damage as if you were wielding a light sword, or a long sword?
If the FIST system acts like a light sword is a long sword, do I get to add damage from the light sword after the initial hit?
A: No.
Can a E-mace, Knalu-knalu, plasma whip, plasma jet, and ptfaang be used in conjunction with a FIST system? (So the FIST system adds it’s damage to their damage)
A: No; Yes; No; No; Yes; The FIST system only adds damage to the initial hit for K-K and Ptfaang, not the ‘grinding’ damage.
Isn’t it odd that in the GU2 under Rule Expansions: Reality Check for Combat it’s stated that a mere flame-thrower will set grenades off?
Modern grenades are C-4 plastique explosives which can only be set off by an electrical charge.
A: A flame-thrower will DEFINITELY not effect these basic frags, nor will any other conventional weapon save a thunderbolt generator (EVIL) or a taser.
To cut costs many BL grenades are made with less stable explosives. Caveat emptor.
Plasma grenades are just ionized hydrogen (or in this case iron -which is very hard to do by they way.) held in a magnetic bottle. This plasma must be generated by a high power laser or nuclear reaction. Yet when you shoot down a nuclear missile it does not explode. Sure it throws radioactive material all over, but no nuclear explosion. I doubt all the plasma grenades are all ready charged with plasma ready to go. Your grenade would have to have a power supply (and thus an expiration date) to hold the magnetic bottle in place, and create the plasma! I’d assumed that when you pulled the pin, the laser or nuclear reaction formed the plasma. Thus if they are kept in a semi-ready state and they do expire after a couple years. If ruptured they would spray. If a grenade was shot nothing would happen unless you had already pulled the pin. If they are already charged then I suppose shooting one would spray plasma all over yourself.
I have no idea about Omegaton grenades... ouch!
Omegaton grenades, on the other hand, might detonate only due to severe system shock or EMP but it is unlikely. Id say they have EMP/SS numbers of about 110.
Battlelords grenades have adjustable timers from 1sec to 60 sec.. a dial is used for quick setting.
Characters would normally set them at 1, it takes 1 sec to reset the time.
It is best to set them before combat if you want them to be longer.
In LNL it states that the Boa Omega weapon has a “limited energy pack capacity” and yet it has a Q of 50.
The weapon under it, the Strike Force, has an “extended energy power clip” for sustained combat environment.
Yet the Strike Force has a Q of 15!!! Have these two Q ratings been switched?
A: Yes.
Do PAWS have to be bolted to the floor/ground before being fired?
What if they aren’t? What happens?
We have a person who in MBA armor is strong enough to carry one, and wants to use it as his primary weapon. What about machine gun lasers, and implosion torpedoes?
A: Yes; the recoil is huge and will knock any character on his ass.
The first shot has a -80 penalty to hit and after that the character is on his ass and the gun has to make an SS roll.
It is possible to use an MG laser, and some implosion torpedoes are man portable ... BM discretion.
How much AI is reduced by a hit from a light sword?
A: AI is reduced by 4 points.
Do carousel guns and gauss rifles affect flux shields?
A: Yes.
How does one know which lasers are ultra-violet (and thus invisible)?
Are all lasers considered to be an ultraviolet beam unless otherwise stated, or vice versa?
A: The following are UV lasers:
Tenteclex (both)
Diffraction
Savage-C
Savage-D
Arrow LOSN
Alpha 2
RKM 2000
Beta 3
Fundamentalist
Falcon XR-7
Gamma 4
Calsham 4
Balshrom Banshee
All impact lasers except: Angler, BC-Shock Therapy
Does smoke (or rain, or fog) completely block a laser beam (as implied in Lock-N-Load) or cut damage in half (as stated in Battlelords)?
A: Cuts damage in half. Only heavy rain would have this effect.
Does a hit by a Juicer require the target to make a Fire SMR for his armor?
It seems to me that Juicers are a sort of high-tech flame-thrower equivalent.
A: Yes, at the BM’s option.
How much encumbrance does a spare ammo magazine or backpack take?
Is it somehow based on the weapon’s encumbrance?
I would think a magazine for a Midget laser would weigh less than that of a Savage-D.
A: Ah, but the Savage-D is a marvel of modern miniaturization!
That’s why most clips have ENC 1 or 2. Backpacks vary but typically weight in at 20-30.
Do weapons shops sell pure Iron for use in Juicers? If so, how much does it cost per shot?
A: Yes consider it a TL 3 item with R availability. Costs 5cr per shot.
However, you should note that one can’t just slap in new iron and fire, it takes about 10 minutes to achieve a molten state. Also You must recharge the energy from time to time, but that is a trivial matter.
How much does ammo for a Taser cost? Does it affect an armored target at all?
How much threshold is necessary to stop it?
Will street clothes armor protect the wearer from a Taser?
A: The ammo is reusable. If the wires break it costs 10cr to replace them.
It is ineffective against armor, but street clothes armor will only protect the covered area.
The Nullifier listed in Lock-N-Load says it creates a hole in a flux shield 85% of the time.
Does the nullifier have to be touching the flux to work? How big is the hole created?
Does the hole go through both sides of the flux shield (most are hemispherical)?
Does it work on all flux shields? How large is “large”?
i.e. Could a player who could carry it, wield it as a weapon?
A: Range: 5m; 2m x 2m; No; Only on area effect flux shields (large vehicle or building type);
It is about 1.5m high, 2m long, 2m wide, and has ENC 100.
It could be carried but is ineffective against personal flux shields as they are too close to the generator to be affected.
Is the Ashanarri a one-shot only weapon? Can the charges be reloaded, or is the whole weapon discarded?
How much damage does it do if the trigger is not pulled?
This is important in order to determine whether it will penetrate armor.
A: Yes; Yes; 2-5
Under the entry for the Naj, it states that Threshold (THR) is reduced by 2.
Is this permanent reduction, or simply effective reduction for that hit?
A: Effective reduction for that hit.
Why is the Nightstalker the only archaic powder pistol that can penetrate heavy armor, when the .454 Casull and Century 500 are so much more powerful?
A: Because the muzzle velocity is higher.
The weight of the .454 and Century 500 bullets is larger accounting for the high damage.
Play it the way you like though.
In Lock-N-Load I found the description for a Huumack, but no stats.
A: Huumack: RNG 1: 60; P: 08; SS: 100; ROF: 1; DAM 2-5; does 1 AI
Do lasers reduce flux shield strength?
A: Yes,normal lasers do 1/2 damage and impact lasers do full damage.
Why is it that the hit percentages (and in some cases, the prices) between the weapons listed in Lock-N-Load and in Battlelords (under Heavy Weapons Systems) do not correlate, with some weapons in the Battlelords manual table hitting as well or better at longer range than the same weapon does at shorter ranges as listed in Lock-N-Load?
A: The Battlelords version is for a slightly different version mounted on a vehicle providing extra stability and tageting.
Why aren’t there any gauss heavy weapons (for vehicular use)? Ditto for Omega weapons?
A: There are, but they have not been published. When the vehicles book is done, they will be there.
How are ranged electrical attacks and nuclear effect weapons versus flux shields handled?
A: They inflict full damage.
Are flame-throwers, frost guns, and juicers treated as kinetic attacks with respect to flux shields?
A: No, they will inflict damage on the flux shield.
Flame-throwers and frost guns do 1/2 damage, juicers do full damage.
The blast radius and ranged damage effects for explosives is not given.
A: It is dependent upon the amount used. The typical amount affects an area similar to a grenade.
Lock-N-Load lists 81mm and 110mm mortar rounds as having the same blast and fragmentation radius as each other, and the same as a hand grenade, which is unrealistic, as these rounds are much more powerful.
A: The mortar rounds do more damage in general.
It IS somewhat unrealistic; use what suits your needs.
Since Pythons are so huge can they use backpacks for pulse cannons and other high-tech weapons as hippacks?
A: BM’s discretion but many of the weapons are hipmounted.
What is the difference between an energy pack and clip (for lasers)?
A: A pack generally refers to a backpack.
In the Battlelords rule book in the Light Sword description it says...
“Whenever the sword inflicts 1/2 of the target’s body points, it cuts clear through whatever was in the way.”
Does this mean that, if you hit someone who has 8 body pts for 4 or more points of damage, it ignores their armor (threshold and absorption)?
This seems potentially abusive and I suspect it is not what is meant.
However, if it doesn’t mean this what does it mean?
Is that 1/2 of the target’s original body pts or half of their remaining body pts?
A: It has to inflict 1/2 of their ORIGINAL body points in ACTUAL body damage. Armor is calculated first.
What is the Integrity Reduction of the light sword? Is it 8 like most plasma weapons?
A: I believe it is 4.
How long do the batteries last on the light sword?
A: 1 hour.
What happens to other weapons that parry a light sword?
A: They must make a SS roll.
Widowmaker Omega weapon has a ROF (in seconds) of 1.
NOT the ROF of 2 in the weapon description.
The Sword Saint weapon “Kajot” scimitar in NML.
It is listed as +2 initiative and reduces threshold by four.
Is this a function of weapon quality, or is it because of the “delrethium” alloy?
A: It is more a function of design and craftsmanship than the alloy.
There are four types of explosives listed in Lock-N-Load, would you please tell me the weight per unit of each of these?
A: 2 for all. Damage listed is for equivalent amounts.
The dagger listed in LnL states that for 700cr it may be purchased with a hollow hilt to hold/inject poison.
Is this cavity large enough to hold the following equipment, for throwing purposes?
- a thin coating of white phosphorus
- a small vial of mercury
- a tad of explosives of C-4
- a 3-5 second timer/ a moisture sensor/detonator sensor
Note: the schematics for the sensor are available currently, but I’m not sure Phentari blood is conductive.
A: Yes; Yes; Yes; No.
The Swordsaint Ashannari or Quabal.
Would they sell it to someone in an altered way, or the way it is described?
Note: One of the characters was trained under the “Protocol of Vengeance”, by the Swordsaint Nation, because their family was hunted and killed by Phentari.
This would allow the Swordsaint assurance the character wouldn’t attack them, and would use the weapon for what they were intended!!
A: To someone such as this, yes. But to the general public, no.
Although, you can get lesser quality versions on the market.
Are there any know explosives based on mercury nitrate?
A: No.
Should a weapon price be adjusted for where you buy them or are these prices pretty much always the same?
A: Weapon prices are fairly standardized throughout the Alliance, but are still adjusted slightly from planet to planet.
Never more than 5% though, because arms dealers are strictly licensed and regulated!
It is illegal to sell weapons off the established margins in any quantity! The penalty is DEATH.
Note the discussion on this topic in NML.
How exactly do you distribute the damage from a disruptor hit on armor?
If I am reading it right, the “metal” damage does only armor integrity damage.
But then the disruptor seems like a very weak weapon when compared to a pulse cannon ...
(less damage and much slower ROF) ... any suggestions?
A: A disruptor does armor integrity damage to 1 section.
This often obliterates the armor there entirely in one or two shots regardless of threshold.
Well, Disruptors are not that strong but Disintegrators are.
Still, low line armors typically have only 10-15 AI in the arm even for large characters.
But of course pulse cannons do 8 AI per hit... It all depends on what you are engaging.
Disruptors are very effective against flesh, even when used against a creature with a natural THR (THR is ignored of course).
Also, I wonder how you are supposed to handle these (and other weird weapons like frost guns, grav sheers, etc) when they are hitting flux shields.
A: Disintegrators and Disruptors: Point for point damage to flux shields.
Frost guns and Flamethrowers: 1/2 damage to flux shields.
Grav sheers: Point for point damage to flux shields as well as damaging things inside the shield (the shield doesn’t protect you!). Your armor and body will take damage unless you have an A-grav belt of some kind.
T-Bolt,Juicer: Point for point to flux shields.
Gauss: by round, point for point to flux.
Implosion: Point for point damage to flux, from each torpedo.
FIST: Point for point damage.
Can a Ram Python use daggers? I would think it would be too big.
A: It can use daggers, the hilts are just longer than normal daggers.
I would think they would use short swords as daggers, long or broad swords as short swords, two-handed swords as long swords, and the naj as a two-handed sword. But there are no rules.
A: The Ram or Python Lizard can use 2h sword in one hand.
I’d like to get the -1 init bonus for using daggers, but short swords seem like the closest thing size-wise.
If so would he use hand to hand skill instead of short sword skill, since hand to hand covers that area?
A: Hand to hand would only cover daggers. Short swords are different.
Do you have to roll a SS each time you hit an armor with an archaic hand held weapon?
A: No.
Do Gauss rifles and carousels guns make any noise when fired?
A: Gauss Rifles make only a whizzing sound of the round whipping through the air.
Carousel guns hum while accelerating.
Can you shoot without aiming with the scope, using the sniper rifles, if so does the weapon accuracy decrease?
A: You can fire without scope at a -40. However, the range 1 number assumes no scope.
In the Lock-N-Load description of the Gauss rifle, it’s written that it takes 3 seconds per 100m to aim.
Does this overule the new aiming rules of 1s/50m and 1s/250m.
If so, if the target is closer than 100m, does it take less time?
A: Yes, this overrides the general aiming rule. Use standard aiming rules within 100m.
If I don’t take the extra time to accelerate the slug of my carousel gun, is the ROF higher?
A: No, the ROF is the minimum time needed to get the slug up to a basic speed.
Beyond this is where you get extra damage.
How many mag guns rounds do you get for the listed price?
A: Just one.
If a Naj reduces effective threshold by 2, would it reduce the threshold of a heavy armor below 7 therefore making it vulnerable to normal kinetic attacks.
Would the Naj do any damage or does the heavy armor resistance to kinetic attacks prevents the armor from losing any threshold?
A: The Naj would do damage to a THR 7 or 8 armor.
In most cases if the Naj is being swung by a Ram it should do damage anyhow.
Can a Cizerack use a scope?
A: If standing: Yes. If using a look-n-shoot BMH: Yes. If using a basic BMH: no.
If a grenade lands near 2 people, do both receive 8 fragments or do you divide the total number of fragments by the number of persons?
A: They both receive the full amount.
Are there any weapons that can be fired from underwater?
A: Weapons can be waterproofed for 25% of cost.
However most weapons will quickly have all their damage output absorbed at any range underwater.
Obviously you cannot fire flamethrowers or archaic powder weapons underwater.
Is the ENC of the backpack included in the listed ENC of the weapon?
A: Yes.
Do LAMs affect all missiles, including direct fire weapons like anti-tank missiles? What about the Whistler missile? What about smaller projectiles like thrown or launched grenades, bullets or mag rounds? What about arm rockets and Heavy Missiles?
A: Yes. Yes. No. Yes. LAMs affect all objects above a certain threshold size (volume) on non-ballistic trajectories. This means that LAMs won't target grenades, mortar rounds, or any small arms fire, but will hit direct-fire missiles/rockets of all sorts. Large-caliber archaic powder rounds (ie: 20mm or larger) will also be targeted, but they will not be affected as these targets have no delicate RADAR or IR seekers (on board electronics) for the LAM to destroy. (LAMs work on the principle of "soft-kill", rather than the "hard-kill" of vaporizing the target.)
Does the Mag round have an activation time after it adheres to the unfortunate's armor?
A: It as a zero "activation time" and 1-3 seconds for how long it takes for certain round types to breach armor.
With the space-rated Proton Beam weapons (Data V, Sigfried 2, Washburn PB), what skill is used: Beam Gunnery, Particle Gunnery, or Energy Gunnery? My GM (Veladarius) thinks probably Beam, I'm thinking Particle, but I can see any of the above...
A: Particle. (Protons are particles, as are mesons and sundry other teensy beasties.) Particle weapons have impact, beam weapons (excepting "impact" lasers) do not, since particles (in the context of weapons) have mass and other physical properties. If it spits out coherent beams of subatomic matter it's a particle weapon. Radiation-based (EM wave-based) weapons fall into other categories.
(Note that plasma weapons do not fire coherent beams, nor do they fire nucleonic particles. They fire plasma, which is essentially a concentrated mass of highly-ionized atoms. And atoms are far larger physical objects than subatomic particles. Thus nucleonic particles have far better penetration of armor since they can fly straight through the vast empty spaces of the armor's atoms, between the atom's orbiting electrons and the atomic nucleus itself. Think of a pulse cannon as a sledgehammer -- which isn't a bad analogy when you look at the effect -- and a particle cannon as crossbow bolt. Both can be deadly, but the latter is a bit tidier.)
Beam = lasers/masers specifically. Anything else that isn't Particle, Beam, Pulse, or Omega (such as scaled-up neutron-effect weapons) falls under Energy.
In the new Lock-N-Load, in the General info section (Missiles), it states that the minimum arming ranges for arm rockets and reflex missiles are 2m/10m/25m respectively.
Obviously you guys forgot to take out the 25m for Heavy missiles when you removed them from the new LNL!
A: Noted.
In the new LNL the 3rd sentence under the armor option shield is cut off.
It says "Also, any attack....". We figured out what it said by looking at an older version of the LNL.
It probably should say "Also, any attack that strikes the arm bearing the shield must penetrate the threshold of the shield before doing any damage to the user."
A: Noted.
When you removed the Heavy Missiles from the LNL, you also deleted any references to them from the description of the Saylon missile... including it's RANGE! (which is 50km same as the Load 1.)
A: Noted.
