PLAYERS HANDOUT 1: BRIEFING DISK ONE

When you insert the disk into your bodycomp, the holoprojector is activated. An image of Major Frump appears before you and begins to speak:

"Congratulations. Your team has been chosen for one of the most dangerous and important missions that this company has ever attempted. You have been handpicked by our Personnel division as having the statistically highest probability of successfully completing this mission. However, statistics also show that not all of you will likely return alive. That is a given in your profession.

"Your team will proceed to Lazarus Shipping Industries in Enginalo on Xensera. Transport will be provided to Enginalo. Lazarus is located at 943 Sodus Avenue in the Cloud City. When you arrive, the gate guard will direct all new hires to the main office. You are to tell him "We have an appointment with the Captain - we're transfers from Talberma". The gate guard will say "I didn't know we had a branch on Talberma". Your response will be "We don't... anymore. That's why we were transferred here." Once these appropriate signs and counter-signs have been offered, you will be admitted.

"Remember, you are not to reveal your true identities nor that of your employer. At all costs, remember to keep to your cover! All that you are at liberty to discuss with others is that you are reporting to Enginalo to work for Lazarus Shipping as security guards. Of course, employee confidentiality would prohibit you from discussing anything aside from the obvious."

Your Battle Master has provided you with alternate identities for your characters. This information is also contained on this disk for reference.

PLAYERS HANDOUT 2: BRIEFING DISK TWO

Once again, "Granny's" pleasant face updates you on your mission:

"The information given to you by Captain Lazarus is not entirely correct. It is for the protection of our front on Enginalo that all information is strictly 'need-to-know'. Should you be discovered, our Lazarus operation should not be compromised.

"You will not find Briefing Disk Three in the command packet which Lazarus will provide. When you arrive at the designated location, it will be found in the lens assembly of the security camera. The code to open the gate and the door will be the purchase order number found in the command packet. On the way, you can listen to the audio disk that Lazarus provides in your command packet. Enjoy!"

PLAYERS HANDOUT 3: BRIEFING DISK THREE

When you install the disk extracted from the camera into your bodycomp, Major Frump appears with your next update:

"Before you set foot outside this garage, you are to remove all panels and decals from your vehicle. Remove your Lazarus jumpsuits and place them in the atomizer. You may now break open the crate and gear up. Once you are ready, proceed to 1044 Rolling Meadow Drive in the suburb of Mount Olive, on the West Side of the city. If you haven't thought to look by now, a map of the city can be found in the glove box.

"When you arrive at the Doctor's home, the security sensors at the gate and the doors will ask for voice print identification. The security system is keyed to accept vocal input from all team members. You will find briefing disk four in the office. Look in the patient files under the name of the officer who gave you your initial briefing. I hope you remember it!"

PLAYERS HANDOUT 4: BRIEFING DISK FOUR

You find the disk in P. Frump's file, and insert it into your bodycomp. The computer asks for vocal confirmation from all team members, and then Major Frump's image appears:

This is the fourth and final section of your briefing. When you learn the nature of this mission, I am sure you will understand the need for the degree of security and secrecy necessary to access this information. Please ensure that you are in a secure location before proceeding."

The computer will pause and await confirmation before the image of your Briefing Officer returns:

"Several months ago, a scientist at the Able Corporation designed a devastating new personal weapon combining Frost Gun and Juicer technology. This weapon system is known as the "Shattergun". Its designer is one Doctor Wolfgang Schott. Little is known of him, as he is reclusive and obsessed with his work. Our intelligence shows that before beginning this project, Dr. Schott was the supervisor for Chemical Weapon Design and Maintenance for Able. If you look in the patient files under 'W. Schott', you will find his psychological profile." [NOTE: the BM will read you the information given under "The Official Line" in Dr. Schott's NPC write-up].

An image of Dr. Schott will appear so that your team will recognize him, then Major Frump returns:

"Our company must obtain this weapons system! Such a development would represent a significant edge in the weapons market, and the loss of this weapon system would mean a sizable setback for Able's efforts. We have gone to great expense to prepare your team for this mission. From here, it all depends on you. You will find an aerial map of the area in the back of the picture frame that holds your host's medical school diploma. We have narrowed down the likely location of the lab to the few areas marked on the photograph. These areas possess the highest degree of probability to conceal the type of facility necessary for production and testing of a Shattergun prototype.

"When you have located the lab, infiltrate the facility and retrieve the prototype weapon. We also require a minimum of ten rounds off ammunition for testing and engineering design. If more than one prototype is present, your team may keep one prototype and half of the remaining ammunition for 'field trials'. Retrieve all test data and files associated with this project, and destroy whatever you must leave behind. This will require dealing with Dr. Schott in some way. You are authorized to negotiate an offer of employment: A position as Chief Science Officer, a 200,000 cr. annual salary, along with 5% of net profits and full funding for the program. If he does not accept, mind wipe him if possible, or kill him. We cannot have this operation tied to our company in any way! Leave no evidence that would link this mission to us! I need not remind you that the penalty for corporate espionage is 25 years in prison.

"When you have successfully fulfilled the mission parameters (and only then), send a secure transmission to Captain Lazarus. The message should simply state "Operation Cold Fire complete. Rendezvous Site Bravo." An extraction team will arrive at this location within 24 hours of your message.

"You are to commit all of this information to memory. All confidential information will be erased from these disks in 60 seconds...Good Luck!"

One minute later, the body computer will indicate that the disks may be removed. Briefing Disks One through Three are now completely blank, Disk Four contains an expert system (Function Rating 5) relating to known information about the weapon system. The first three disks should be retained to record any test data and files found at the lab.
