- Sarands
- Scatter Defense Laser Unit (SDLU) - An Armor or Vehicle Option. Used to defeat mass assaults, this voice-activated unit fires a high-dispersion laser pattern that automatically strikes any individual within range bracket 1, in a 60 degree arc to the rear.
- Scenario - This is the specific adventure that players are involved in at any given moment.
- SCRAP
- Secondary Statistics - Modified by Vital Statistics, these stats include Terrestrial Knowledge, Military Leadership, Persuasion, and Bargaining.
- Semi-Armor Piercing High Explosive Incendiary (SAPHEI) - An ammunition that reduces threshold in addition to a given weapon's effect.
- Shade World - A planet that exists in a quasi-dimensional state where, from time to time, the planet is visible, but cannot be reached or affected by any normal means. Shading lasts for 1-4 weeks at a time. All other times, the world is completely accessible. These planets are usually former Ghost Planets to which explorers have found access. Most gates, as the pathways to these planets are called, lie far away from the shadow world and are usually tears in the fabric of space that allow ships into parallel universes.

- Size Class (SC) - A general measure of the size of a being; ranging form 1 to 8 with four being the SC of most Humans. This is used for things such as fitting 20 SC worth of people into a Skimmer or what size armor you need.
- Skill Bonus (SB) - A modifier added or subtracted to applicable skill rolls based on Vital Statistics.
- Slayborg - An I-Bot designed for assassination, combat, or terrorism. Sometimes called a killforcer.

- Sonic Detonator (S) - An explosives detonator which utilizes sound. Any noise above a certain decibel level triggers the explosive.
- Sonic Survival Matrix Roll - A character's base chase to avoid damage from sound or concussive attacks. Damage depends on the severity of the attack, but deafness and stunning are common.
- Space Systems Development Corporation (SSDC)
- Special Weapons Assault Team (SWAT) - A special section of some law enforcement agencies trained and equipped to deal with especially dangerous or violent situations, as when hostages are being held.
- Squad Automatic Weapon (SAW) - A light weight, portable machine gun that fires 10 rounds a second.
- Standard Day - A 30 hour period of time.
- Standard Week - 7 Standard Days.
- Standard Month - 5 Standard Weeks.
- Standard Year - 350 Standard Days or 10 Standard Months.
- Strength (STR) - A Vital Statistic. A measure of a character's physical power. Represents how much a character can military press, squat, and dead lift.
- Strength Reduction Factor (SRF) - The The multiple by which a F.I.S.T. system forcefield blow weakens per meter.
- Survival Matrix Roll (SMR) - The Survival Matrix represents the chance an individual has to resist the effects of a non-standard attack. A character makes an SMR roll if such an event occurs.
- Special Weapons Assault Team (SWAT) - After regular police units, this second line of defense is highly trained and well equipped to response to crisis in city areas. Alternate Acronym: Special Weapons And Tactics
- Storage Capacity (SC) - Just what it sounds like for a computer. A computerized book make take up .01 SC, while the resources of a space station's system might take up 10 million SC.
- Surface to Air Missile (SAM) - A missile designed to be launched from the ground to destroy aircraft.

- System Control Intelligences (Skys) - More advanced Para-Artificial Intelligences
- System Shock (SS) - A weapon's or piece of equipment's chance of surviving undamaged when dropped, jarred, etc. Also, a character's chance or remaining conscious after a Critical Hit or injury.
