Ninghizzidda Flame Cloud

This geographical feature was originally intended to be located within the Shadow's Rim sector. It can, however, be located wherever the BM needs it for his group and adventure idea.
This Energy cloud indeed appears to be burning. Huge eruptions of flame (helium particles) form complicated patterns as they interject in large circling movements, sometimes revealing the distant glow of the Ghost Sun of a system called "the Serpent's Tongue". Radiation within the cloud is relatively low, however ships caught in the cloud experience outside temperatures exceeding 1.200 degrees Celsius. Safe travel through the cloud seems to be possible if the ship is equipped with a very powerful flux shield, and indeed some ships use the cloud as an escape or even pleasure trip route.
Plot Hooks
- The PCs are escorts or guards on board of the "Flaming Passion" pleasure cruiser when the drives fail and the flux shield generator starts to stutter. As they find out, someone has been tampering with the flux shield's control program, sending everyone on board to a very slow, very painful death while the temperature rises, and rises, and rises. THe PCs must find out who of the elite guests, their servants or the ship's crew is the hidden terrorist. Before the ship starts to melt. Think "Death on the Nile" in AD 2279.
