The Setup

This scenario starts with a trip to Madd Mikes mercenary job board at the space port. The players are given a choice between a couple of very low paying and dangerous jobs as guards or limb breakers, and a job listed as property recovery that claims to pay 30,000cr.
(that’s all the info that Madd Mikes has besides a contract number for all jobs)

If they chose one of the other jobs your on your own unless it is a guard job about spare help.

When they pick the property recovery job a call is made by a MM's counter person and they are told to show up at an office attached to Madd Mikes Friday at 11am (it’s a day rental office).

When they show up at the office they are greeted by a very genteel Fott who calls himself Jax (Red) Hopper.

Red tells the party that he needs them to recover a couple of crates for him, and that he will pay them 30,000cr if they recover the two items within 5 days (The time can be adjusted by the BM according to his/her needs).
Red will not divulge any further details until the players agree to perform this “little” task for him. Once the players agree to do the job and sign an agreement* he will pull a packet of goods and start the briefing (i.e. a legal contract).

  • Beware of the Betrayal clause on the back, if they don't look they don't know.

BM Note: Jax (Red) Hopper's personal notes about the bonded warehouse.

The office has four people working inside (one girl "Lil" up front and the rest are fellers in the back, Billy, Bob, & Peet) and a yard man named Tim. Dar all Orion’s running the place but for the at least two Rams pulling guard duty thar.

The first box Red is seeking is in the warehouse next door to the office, and its right in side next to the wall.
The second box is in the second warehouse somewhere. The place opens at 6am and closes around 7pm where they have a few Rams doing night guard duty within the joint, plus there is some rent-a-fuzz company that does drive-by’s about once a night.
(This is the limit of Red’s knowledge)

He gives them the address of the Limpken’s Bonded Storage facility and a map of the buildings with what he remembered seeing (see Building map (player’s version)). He apologizes for the lack of detail in some areas of the map but he has been unable to get any further details.

He also provides them with the serial #’s that are on the outside of the crates plus the approximate location of one of them and the rumor of where the second one is located.

He then tells the party that he can arrange to have the power go out for 1 hour, but that this is all of the help he can give them*.

Lastly Red stipulates that the crates must be unopened and in good condition upon delivery. (see Betrayal sub section)

AS soon as Red explains the job to the party he will receive a phone call and has to leave. On his way out he will say that the party is free to remain in the office for another 4 hours if they need too (it is a day rental), then he leaves a new contact number #(B19-0004) with the party leader so they can arrange the power outage (BM note: *). Red will need at least 3 hour notice before any power outage.
Just before exiting Red states that if the party members are caught breaking and intering that they are on their own, and they should not try to involve or implicate him in any way (see Betrayal sub section). Then he leaves them.

  • (If the party asks Red for more outages he will agree to take the power out twice, but the players have to take a 5k cut for the setup - used or not)

(Now is the time to let the players plot and plan their assault on the facility let them get as creative as they want? If they did not think to ask red if he could take the power out more than the one time they may be in for a surprise (Battle Masters prerogative of course)
